Story

The vertical pine trunks create an almost musical composition — a study in rhythm and light. The contrast between the deep blue background and the golden lighting gives the forest a magical, mysterious quality. What I wanted to capture was the silence of the moment: time standing still. And yet the painting stays decorative. The black outlines around each form, the detailed blade of grass, the texture of the tree bark — these keep it grounded in the real even as the light pulls it toward something closer to a fairytale.

Artistry

I painted this on a black background, building the forms with broad, flat brushstrokes in a decorative style. The black underlayer gives the oil pigments exceptional density and saturation — it’s what makes the deep blue glow and the golden light feel alive. It also draws out the rhythmic structure of the composition and the organic texture of the pine bark. The painting has not been varnished.
