Story

I almost called this painting “Déjà Vu.” But it isn't about unexplained recognition — it's about something more specific: returning to a familiar place and thinking you know it. The colors are the same, but slightly different. The smells are there, but altered. You wonder which of you has changed: the place, or you? In the rush of everyday life, this is almost impossible to notice. But when you return — after years — and stand in a space that held an earlier version of you, it becomes clear. The place hasn't changed. You are no longer the same. You've reached a page of your life that has already been turned, already closed. Somehow, you found it again.

Artistry

I painted this on white canvas, first blocking in each object with oil paint, then building the entire composition with a palette knife. A thin brush was used for a few fine details at the end. The painting has not been varnished.
